We know everyone is excited to be able to be mask-free. As we enter a new stage of this pandemic, here are some important reminders:
For the general public, the masking requirement has been lifted (in most situations but varies by state). The recommendations for lifting mask requirements are for NON-Healthcare settings.
While in the hospital/clinic setting, patients/visitors/staff must follow the guidance of wearing masks (as of today, until things are changed).
As of now, we are going to continue screening patients and visitors entering the hospital. Additionally, the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (MIOSHA) emergency rules for workplace safety remain in effect. Among other things, the rules stipulate screening and tracking of visitors and employees, mask wearing and other social distancing measures.
We have received information from the Michigan Hospital Association that they have been in contact with MIOSHA and expects the emergency rules to be significantly revised in the coming days. The MHA also stressed to MIOSHA that updated guidance at the state-level needs to be reflective of both patient areas and settings where patient care is not delivered. Additional details on updated rules and recommendations will be shared as they become available.
Thank you all for your consideration in this matter.
