Two New Physicians Join Three Rivers Health Women's Services

The Women’s Services office at Three Rivers Health has two new doctors on their team. Dr. Raśl Andino and Dr. Mohammad Azimi (pictured left to right), both obstetrician/gynecologists, arrived in January.

Dr. Andino graduated with a medical degree from the Universidad Central del Este in the Dominican Republic in 1985, and completed his OB/GYN residency at the Regional State Hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1993. Dr. Andino has worked in private practice and group practice since 1994, most recently in Claremore, Oklahoma, for six years.

Dr. Azimi received his medical degree from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1970, and finished his OB/GYN residency at Wayne State University in Detroit in 1975. Dr. Azimi has been in solo medical practice since 1975 in Ypsilanti and Taylor, Michigan.

“I am a very down to earth, family-oriented person with a passion for poetry and sports,” said Dr. Azimi. “And I take pride in my devotion to being the best patient-oriented physician I can be,” he continued.

Dr. Andino worked for Three Rivers Health during the summer of 2007, and decided he loved it. He declared that as soon as there was a partner to share the work with, he would definitely be joining the team. Following Dr. Azimi’s interview, he and Dr. Andino discussed the opportunity to work together and they signed on within a week of one another. Recently when asked how it was going, Dr. Andino once again said, “I love it here.” Dr. Andino and his wife have four children, and when their oldest son completes high school this year, he will be attending the University of Michigan.

“Both physicians will spend a significant amount of their time serving the gynecological needs of women in our market area,” said Laurie Herbert, Vice President of Operations at Three Rivers Health. “They will also work closely with Women’s Health midwives Ruth Anson, Janie Allgor, and Beth Kelley. The midwives deliver over 90% of our babies,” she continued.

Gynecology services include all aspects of women’s care that relate to reproductive health, except for pregnancy. From routine annual check-ups and pap smears to complicated invasive surgeries, Dr. Andino and Dr. Azimi bring years of experience and expertise in surgery, using the latest medical advances in minimally invasive surgery when possible.

The Women’s Services team of physicians and midwives can offer women of all ages personalized, comprehensive care, including annual exams, pap tests, breast exams, family planning, infertility treatment and management, menopause screening and counseling, routine and high-risk obstetrical care, minimally invasive surgery, and more.
