THREE RIVERS, Mich., February 13, 2008 – Three Rivers Health is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Curtis Buchheit to its medical staff. Dr. Buchheit will lead the Hospitalist Program. He is joined by Anita Reid, family nurse practitioner, who will cover the evening shift.
Dr. Buchheit grew up in Ohio and received his medical degree from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine in 1994. He completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at the University of Tennessee at Memphis in 1998. Dr. Buchheit is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Prior to moving to this area, he worked in Tennessee and in the UP of Michigan.
Anita Reid is a graduate of Boston University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then completed a Master of Science in Nursing through the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire, and worked in that state for approximately ten years before moving to Michigan.
A hospitalist is a relatively new medical specialty in the Three Rivers area. Hospitalists are medical specialists who spend their entire day managing the care of patients in an inpatient setting. Since many primary care physicians prefer to work in an office-based setting, hospitalists work closely with them to manage the care of their patients who are hospitalized. Patients then return to their primary care physician for ongoing care.
“Dr. Buchheit and Anita Reid have been very well received by our medical staff and patients at our Medical Center,” said Laurie Herbert, Vice President of Operations for Three Rivers Health. “Their exclusive focus on caring for inpatients provides a continuity of care and increased communication for families of hospitalized patients. Through this access, patients and their families get a better understanding of the patient’s condition while in the Medical Center, and also what to expect when the patient returns home.”
Three Rivers Health offers patients technology-driven care, including a wide array of inpatient, rehabilitation, outpatient, diagnostic, wellness, specialty clinics, and homecare and hospice services. To learn more, call 278.1145, ext. 258. |
