Three Rivers Health invests in state-of-the-art CT scanner for earlier detection of illnesses
Three Rivers Health announced today that patients and physicians in the area can now access the latest diagnostic imaging technology at their Medical Center. “Our new Philips 64 Slice CT (computed tomography) scanner produces crisp, detailed images of the body in just seconds," said Bev Levett, manager of Medical Imaging.
 | “The unit is actually taking 64 images at once and has 3D capability. Abnormalities can be seen in multiple planes using just one set of original data. This is very exciting technology,” said Dr. David Tague, radiologist at the Medical Center. The new CT scanner demonstrates how technologic innovations are improving both the speed and accuracy of imaging results--enabling physicians to detect and treat diseases at an early stage.

“Our new scanner enables us to do many tests, including such things as blood flow studies which are less invasive than an angiogram,” Levett added. The image definition is sharper, and the CT technology ensures patients receive less radiation which supports the commitment by Three Rivers Health to patient safety across the entire spectrum of patient care.
“Our CT system offers an excellent combination of clinical excellence and patient safety – with the biggest benefit being increased capabilities for early detection. We’ve always put a premium on giving our physicians the best diagnostic tools—and the real winners continue to be our patient community,” commented Matt Chambers, CEO at Three Rivers Health. He added that the equipment represents an investment of over $1 million, paid over a 5-year lease period.
